Greenville County Department of Public Safety is seeking full and part-time Paramedics to join our healthcare team. In the position, you will play a key role in the healthcare for inmate patients at the Greenville County Detention Center. We are looking for skilled medical professionals with maturity, flexibility, critical thinking skills and confidence in medical decision making to join our team. Our staff provides comprehensive medical care in a correctional setting; you'll be trained to do this while observing and maintaining the requirements of operational security. Our facility includes a large, central nursing station; three exam room; an infirmary housing area and isolation rooms; as well as pharmacy, lab, x-ray, and dental offices. As a part of a well-established agency, you can expect to be presented daily with a wide range of different challenges. During a normal shift, you will be utilizing your skills in almost all areas of emergency care as well as some chronic care issues. Paramedics are valued highly for their ability to respond to emergencies within the facility. Some of your responsibilities will include, but nor be limited to: Assisting physicians and advanced care providers (PA/NP on staff with inmate patient examinations, performing assessments, making observation rounds on patients and recording in progress notes, evaluating symptoms & reactions and progress of patients on periodic basis, charting; and reporting problems to management, providing treatments, administering medication, drawing labs, responding to emergencies, seeking patients for staff-level sick call, interviewing inmate patients upon arrival at the facility and documentation utilizing electronic records. BCLS/ACLS; maintain a current copy of certification on file at the facility at all times; ability to provide the following services; crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical care and psychiatric care; ability to perform assessments and follow through treatment without direct supervision.
